Week 8 & 9 of 2012

February 19, 2012

It's Monday. Meh. Happy President's Day.
I have enjoyed these days off. Not much accomplished as I had planned, but let's get real...I never expected it to. I did get my kitchen the cleanest it has been in a long time, cleaned the living room, painted flower pots, bought groceries, ran into my ex, watched 49 minutes of Paranormal Activity 2, and ate a bag of Doritos. I am exhausted.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Not normally the type of book I go for, but 2 very reliable sources assured me I would love it. They were right. I think any older sister will appreciate it!!

Callie was mad Scott didn't take her with him, so when he pulled up in the driveway, instead of meeting him at the door, she does this:

February 24, 2012

We went to Alexandria today. I had a list of stuff I needed to get. I came home $18 poorer and one thing on my list. Next time I will go alone.

I bought "Catching Fire" on the Kindle and loving it so far! I can't believe I am just now giving into the "Hunger Games" obsession. I hope the movie doesn't disappoint.

February 25, 2012

It's 10am and I am already dreading my 3-11 shift today. I had dreams all night about how things were going to go wrong today. I did wake up to Scott bringing me a hash brown from McD's, and let's face it, they're basically crack, so I am good for a week or so.

This is MUCH better than the other one. It does not taste like wood and paint.

I am at the halfway point on "Catching Fire". So good.

I don't know how to describe this work day besides "If I had balls I would cut them off".

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I finished "Catching Fire" and about a quarter way through "Mockingjay".

Not much has been happening. Work, sleep. Last night I walked (some may say slithered like a slug) on the walking track. Note to self: wear different shoes that doesn't make it feel like your heel will fall off.
2 more hours at work. Come on weekend!!

February 29, 2012

Today I got to be highfalutin. I was invited to the Natchitoches Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet. I felt like Snooki at the Oscars. Speaking of Snooki....what in the name of all that is holy was she thinking when she decided to procreate.
Today was LaChanski's last day. This makes me sad. He is my confidant.

I didn't walk tonight on the track tonight. I blame it on the sprinkles and my sister's blisters. I was going to go with Bailey, but the truth is, I fell asleep reading 'Mockingjay' and didn't wake up until almost 8pm.

Happy Leap Year!

March 1, 2012

13-hour shift today. Party up in here!

It was a decent day. I wish I could have gone to see Jeff Dunham with my galpal, but we will girly bond another time. My feet are screaming at me.

I lost a former co-worker today. It hit me pretty hard, I try not to get too emotional in public, but it just hit me weird, and once the first tear fell I couldn't stop. Al King was the funniest dirty old man I know. A good family man who liked to "doctor up" his tea. I knew him just a few years, but it feels like a lot longer. My next shot of tequila I will toast to Al.

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I didn't expect a happy ending, but I never thought it would end like it did. Regardless, a good end to the trilogy.

So I think I am finally going to have to go to the doctor. Most normal people would have went on day 2, but this is day 5. I thought it was a staph infection, but every one keeps saying spider bite, so I guess I will be forced to find out.

It burns.

On an unrelated note, I do believe my left ankle is swollen.

Now let me point out-- I am a fat girl. But they're not THAT big....
The right one:

That's right!!
We rock. That is all.

March 3, 2012

Looks like nothing I have planned for today will happen. The doctor's office closes at 12 on Saturday, and I just woke up. By the time I shower, shave my leg hair surrounding the wound, get dressed, wake up Bailey, get her dressed, call my mother, there is no way we could be there. And that is not one of my polished excuses. It's also raining, so no yard work either. I am currently sitting on the couch watching "Inside Nascar" and reading emails.

I follow a lot of blogs on Blogger, but only 2 do I have sent to my email.

All Fooked Up

and

Mental Poo

These guys make me laugh out loud.

I didn't do much today. Went to the Walmart with my Mother. Hung out with the spouse. Performed self-surgery on my leg. Typical Saturday stuff.

I am thinking about getting a Blackberry Tablet. I am holding off, because for a year all I talked about and wanted was a Kindle Fire. Now I'm like, "meh, I just use the app on my phone and iPod.."

So now I need to find something new to read. I think I will finally take advantage of all the free Kindle books I have downloaded.

I don't normally follow the Nationwide NASCAR series, but ELLIOTT SADLER won, yo!!

I know, right!

Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta

I cooked a meal. *insert fanfare*

I will post the original recipe at the end in case you actually want to eat it. I never follow a recipe correctly. Usually because I never have the right ingredients on hand.

Creamy Cajun Chicken Pasta.

3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
Any type of thin spaghetti. I like vermicelli.
Cajun seasoning
2 tablespoons butter
8 oz heavy cream
2 tablespoons chopped sun-dried tomatoes. I always make my own, but today I cheated and bought them in a bag.
Salt
Basil
Black pepper
Garlic powder. You can also use minced garlic. I am lazy.
Shredded Colby Jack. Just because it's my favorite.

Boil pasta.
Cut up the chicken breasts, coat in cajun seasoning (Tony Chachere's) and garlic powder. Sautee in butter until salmonella goes away.
Add tomatoes, cream, black pepper, basil, a pinch of salt to chicken mixture.
Let it thicken.
You can either pour it on top of the pasta, or mix it all together. I am a mixer.

What mine looked like:

Never mind what it is supposed to look like.

Geographically challenged

It is really no secret that I don't know ANYTHING about geography. I honestly don't know anyone with a diploma that is worse than I am on this subject.
Scott and I were looking at this pic earlier, and we were naming the countries:
World-Map-By-Stereotypes-full

I was giggling at India, and he pointed towards "The Wastelands" and mentioned Russia.

ME: That is not Russia.
SCOTT: Yes it is.
ME: Russia is on top of Canada.
SCOTT:

It is right there near Asia.
ME: Dude, Russia is nowhere near Asia. I swear.

*Google World Map*

Me:

In my Lisa-brain, Russia is cold. Canada is cold. It made sense.
I studied this map and was amazed that Russia is cold, and it touches China, and that touches the Middle East. That is hot.

My father in law bought me a globe a couple of years ago to try and aid in my being geographically challenged. I should have packed it.

I am never going to live this down.
A few minutes later..

ME: It is hot in here.
SCOTT: No it isn't.
ME: *glares at him*
Turn off the heater.
SCOTT: The heater is in Russia.

Sigh.

Week 6 & 7 of 2012

February 10, 2012

From February 5th until yesterday, it has only said "Worked, ate dinner, slept". Absolutely nothing noteworthy has happened. I've worked every day, mostly 7-3, today I will work 3-11.
Maybe something spectacular will happen at the grocery store or on my shift that I can add to this very mundane week.

February 12, 2012
7 days have passed, and still nothing to report. I have worked either 7-3 or 3-11. I sleep, I eat. Bailey stayed the night with me Friday and Saturday. I am working 3-11 today, and will return 7-3 tomorrow, for 5 more days.

I finished "The Inner Circle". I liked it. Typical Brad Meltzer. I began "The Hunger Games" last night.
Whitney Houston passed away last night, so I am to assume the Grammy's tonight will be a tribute to her.

I had just texted Scott, "I DO NOT give her every thing that she wants!"

I feel like it's a trap...

I have awesome friends that being me snacks.

I can't say I married him for his booty.

Fun times at my house.

Dancing Harry Potter style

February 13, 2012
Scott cheated today. I said NO Valentine's Day gifts. He brought it to work the day before. I was burned on a technicality.

February 16, 2012

What a wretched day! I woke up in a particularity foul mood, the dog nearly ripped off my baby toenail, then I get in the truck, and it will not crank. I am talking 10 minutes out there and nothing. This makes me even angrier since it can easily be remedied by replacing the starter. My Blackberry battery is of course, dead. My backup ride has already left. While I am stomping into the house to call my mother and to call work to say I will be late, Scott turns the key and it cranks.

Me^^^

After being completely rude to my husband, I get to work.
How my shift begins:

8 hours later:

As if the day couldn't get any worse, the main server that controls the entire *huge worldwide chain of hotels* went out. Our computers were like massive paperweights. We were sitting ducks. Imagine all the registers at every Walmart going out at the same time. You could shop, but not check out.

So anyway, I am home now. I have had some Doritos. I have had a grilled cheese. I even had a Hershey Kiss or two. Life should be restored soon.

ONE more day and I will FINALLY have a day off!!!!

February 17, 2012

Okay people. When my shift ends today, I am determined to do something blog-worthy!! My plan is to clean house and rake the yard. LIKE A BOSS.

I like to photograph my coworkers and bosses in awkward situations.

February 18, 2012
Well nothing really blog worthy. Bailey and I went to eat at El Nopal, went to Walmart, then the grocery store. Came home and watched movies and listened to her do NASCAR commentary. "Left, left, oh look, left..."

I blogged..
Geographically challenged

So that pretty much sums up this past 2 weeks. I have enjoyed this off day, it feels good to be able to be lazy. I did find my loveseat under a mound of clothes...

I forgot how ghastly it was.

No more naked Pinterest

So I am pinning away, and come across this:

Without moving a muscle, only to reach my phone, I snap this:

I knew it. I am being stalked!
