March 2011

March was pretty exciting. I am officially moved back to Louisiana, Scott is here, and I work ALL the time. :)

I usually try to put the pics in chronological order, but I am way too lazy for that...

This cracked me up at McGee's

Typical crazy day at work.

This has been an interesting day at work. Granted I am still here, with an hour and 19 minutes to go, I am *hoping* all the crazies are tucked away in bed.
I am not going to name the establishment I work at, but *you know*, and this has been just a typical day of what life is like in a hotel.

Guest comes to the desk to tell me he has been trying to get his a/c to come on, but no luck. He wants to change rooms. I don't tell him the hotel is sold out tonight, and there are no rooms available, so I offer to come look at it. I walk in, walk over to the a/c unit, and turn it on. Boom. It works. He was not pressing the ON/OFF button.
He apologizes for making me come up there. I secretly call him a retard.

Guest comes to the desk and says he just checked in, dropped off his briefcase in his room, and he went to his vehicle, got the rest of his luggage, go back to the room, and the key would not work. I check his key, it shows valid, so I went back to the room to test it, hoping the battery pack has not gone out. His room number was 303. He was trying to open 305. I can't make this up.

A regular guest comes to the desk, he stays here throughout the week, saying he went to his room and he heard "voices" on the other side, and he was scared to go in alone. I am so glad I can provide comfort and security to a grown man. I escort him to his room, open the door She-Ra Princess of Power style, and the room is dark and vacant. No burglars. No noise. Guest is saved. Hallalujer.

There was a guest with a total of about 9 teeth. Invited me to a "party" later, off hotel grounds. You cannot imagine the void in my soul from knowing I am going to miss out.

I had 2 phone reservations for the Best Western, and a man tried to check in, and his reservation was at Holiday Inn Express. I work at neither of these places.

I also had to go to two different rooms to show them how to connect to the internet.
This being, opening a browser, and typing in the access code I gave them.

Sigh.

HOWEVER, I received a $10 tip for assembling a crib and taking it to the guests room before they checked in. I felt cheap and dirty taking it. It will be spent wisely.

Our day in the Forest.

So there is this "place" in Kisatchie National forest. Kisatchie Falls. A mythical, hidden place.
EVERYONE knows where this place is but me. *Unnamed parent* said there was a sign telling me where to turn. There is no sign. Unless it's under Harry's Invisibility Cloak, I cannot find it.
However, the day wasn't a total loss. I took Scott to see Longleaf Vista, which is one of my favorite places. I have taken probably hundreds of pictures there and at the Bayou.

Don't let the smile fool you, he is terrified.

When we got to L'Vista, we saw a map, which had WATERFALLS on it. Knowing it wouldn't be the Falls, it still wouldn't hurt to check it out.

So we trek...

and trek...

Let me add we not NOT people who normally trek. Or do anything that requires walking up or downhill...

So we get to our destination.

Ready for the waterfalls?!?!?!
IMG-20110318-00035

That's right.

I would've kept walking looking for these "waterfalls", but there was a sign indicating we were indeed in the right spot.

I left a little of my soul there.

I knew the uphill climb we were to endure....
Imagine this, only about FIVE more!!

On a happy note, we didn't die.
