Give a little thanks

Thanksgiving is tomorrow. No doubt trying to cook Thanksgiving Dinner for the first time, along with my sister, is going to be both stressful and nerve racking.
I then realize the people who will be alone, or without food to eat. That makes me feel guilty about having every bird imaginable cooking in the kitchen.

It makes me sad my husband is in Alabama, and I miss him terribly. But it won't be long until he will be here, and all will be right again.

I wrote a blog last year for all the things I am thankful for. I thank the Lord every day for all the blessings in my life, even though most days my status somewhere is "I hate everything".

I would be lost without my Mother who forgets EVERYTHING. My sister Bailey, who does that weird growling noise when she sleeps. My sister Rebecca who is currently holding the camera hostage and refuses to let me eat cookie dough instead of the baked cookie I don't want. My brother in law, Steven, who's buttcrack I have seen more of than my own husband, and reeks of hand sanitizer. My father who sleeps in the recliner and smells like a muskrat most of the time. My husband, 500 miles away, working his flat rear end off, and who agreed to uproot our entire life and move here, so I can be close to the aforementioned people.

This is definitely going to be an interesting year to come.

5 Things..and my 100th blog :-0

Yay! It's my 100th blog! I was planning on doing something epic, but let's face it, I am not that clever.

I was tagged in a "name 5 things" blog, so I figured I may as well do that.

So here ya go :)
~

Here are a few things I can’t seem to get enough of right now. Five favorites, from five completely different categories: food, fashion, beauty, home, and technology.

Food-

Sun dried tomatoes. I have no idea how I ate a sandwich or a salad without these. I try to make a batch a week. So good!!

Fashion-

My turquoise bracelet. There are 4 of them, and they're scattered all over the house, counter tops, and various purses. I never know which one I am wearing, but chances are, whether it matches or not, I am wearing one when I leave the house.

Beauty-

Eyeshadow primer.
I never wore a lot of eyeshadow, because after 2 hours, it was gone. THEN! I discovered primer. Oh how I love thee.

Home-

$20 for a candle. Yep, it's worth it.

Technology-

I'm a Blackberry addict. And the fact I can't get signal here while visiting my family is life ruining.

So there you go. Now your life is complete.

My life story will cost a penny

I kind of went a little nuts with $.01 shopping on Amazon tonight.

Here are my "steals"-

(technically my mom ordered this one, but I will end up with it)

I watched the movie first, and it was fantastic, so I am hoping the book doesn't disappoint.

A chick flick I thoroughly enjoyed

AND!!!! I have been looking for this for-ev-er!! I ordered it from Amazon a while back, used, and the seller sent me the wrong book. No where else on Amazon could I find it. Books a Million and Barnes and Noble don't carry it anymore. BUT!!! Ebay had it! for ONE DOLLAR!!! (insert happy dance here)

It may not be much, but I am excited!!!

Happy 11689 days old...

So I turned 32. I am happy to be alive, and I had a wonderful day. But I am not a fan of aging. I don't like the fact my body aches when it rains and I had to buy age defying makeup because the wrinkles are starting to show when I smile.

I will be here at my mother's until Christmas, then my husband will come, I will go back with him, and then we will move here permanently in March. I had free range to the debit card for my birthday :) But I used my bday money for most of it ;)

Olive Garden was the bombdiggity!! I stuffed myself so that an hour later I was still in shock. Gluttony is a sin you know....

We shopped til my Converses gave out. So much stuff was bought in fact, the Tahoe was crammed in the 2 back seats, and I had to put junk in my lap on the way home.

Awesome night. Awesome family.

I feel old.

The Art of Racing in the Rain

I have this habit, that when I find something new that I like, I have to shout it to the world and insist every one else do it. Like Facebook. Stumble Upon. The Big Bang Theory.

Tonight I finished possibly one of the best books ever written. Now I absolutely insist you read it.

I was waiting for my husband (to pee) before we checked out one day, and I always end up in the books. This book was sitting there, and I don't even remember why I picked it up. I am not a dog person. Every one KNOWS that I am the crazy cat lady. I read the back, went "hmm", and put it back.
As soon as I got home, I kept thinking about it, so I looked it up on Amazon, and it was half price, so I bought it.
You don't have to be a dog lover to thoroughly bawl your eyes out.
It will make you laugh, cry, and rip out your heart. It isn't one that's "so" sad that it becomes unspeakable (like how the movie 'Remember Me' is to my sister), but it is enjoyable from beginning to end.

It is told through the eyes of a dog, Enzo, and his life with his owner, Denny, a professional race car driver. You learn in the first few sentences that the dog will die soon, so I'm not giving anything away, but how it comes to be will be quite a journey.

I have read hundreds of books, and I have teared up, maybe even let a tear fall, but this made me literally sob. There was snot involved. It wasn't that it was SO sad, but you were happy for him also.

I want to read it again. :)

Here is an excerpt that I love..

“In Mongolia, when a dog dies, he is buried high in the hills so people cannot walk on his grave. The dog's master whispers into the dog's ear his wishes that the dog will return as a man in his next life. Then his tail is cut off and put beneath his head, and a piece of meat or fat is placed in his mouth to sustain his soul on its journey; before he is reincarnated, the dog's soul is freed to travel the land, to run across the high desert plains for as long as it would like.

I learned that from a program on the National Geographic channel, so I believe it is true. Not all dogs return as men, they say; only those who are ready.

I am ready.”

Veterans Day

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13

Today, I will honor the Veterans who gave their life and the ones who continue to serve to protect my freedom.

Things overheard at my mother's house

*My sister and I are sitting in the backyard re-reading the Harry Potter series*

Her- "Did you notice the bookmarks I made for each book?"

Me- "I did. Cute."

Me- "My book doesn't have one".

Her- "Oh. I ate that one".
